Sports Handicapping - Moneyline Strategy

There are many strategies for betting a moneyline. Most sports handicappers agree that the moneyline can be a very effective way to wager. I have two different strategies, one for NBA basketball picks and NFL and college football picks and one for MLB baseball picks. For basketball and football if there is an underdog that is +3 or less, I will consider taking them on the moneyline. It is good value and if you think a team will cover 3 points then you should think they will win. I have been burned a few times with this strategy but for the most part it has been good. In the MLB, I like to take visiting teams that are -1.5 because they are usually +135 or higher. The reason I like the visiting team is because they get a chance to bat in the 9th if they are up by a run. The home team must win by 2 in 8 innings to cover. Also, I like to take underdogs in the last game of a series that they have not won a game. It sounds crazy but sweeps are not all that common and managers tend to rest players when they have a series wrapped up. When it comes to moneylines, I think value is the name of the game. I am not saying to take only underdogs but they should be a big part of your moneyline strategy.
