Sports Handicapping - What is a Parlay?

A parlay is a wager in which the bettor picks two or more games and connects them into one wager. The bet is made harder by the addition of each game but the player is compensated by a bigger payout if the wager hits. An example of a parlay is as follows; Lakers -3, Celtics -1 and Magic -13. All three of those games would have to cover for the bet to win but the risk to win on such a wager (assuming a -110 moneyline) would be $25 to win $150. There are not many reputable sports handicappers that would advise their clients to bet a parlay simply because the odds of winning goes down with each game added. I personally have never liked the parlay bet. The thought of winning 4 out of 5 games and not getting paid makes no sense to me. But there are many newbies out there that love the parlay because of the low risk/high reward nature of the play. Be careful is all I can recommend.
